About Our Race Team

Our Story

The JRD Motorsports race team was founded in the fall of 2017 in anticipation of the team’s inaugural season of racing that saw the 28 car all over the province, racing at Grand Bend Speedway, Flamboro Speedway, Sauble Speedway, and Delaware Speedway. After learning a ton and experiencing mechanical gremlins for the first half of the season, the team decided to stick to Delaware Speedway for three events to finish off the year. Ryan would get behind the wheel for all three, posting top 10 finishes in all of the races, including the legendary Pumpkin Smasher.

The team said goodbye to its Bone Stock at the conclusion of the season as it was sold and JRD Motorsports looked for a new challenge. The team purchased a Truck Series chassis that had been crashed, and completely rebuild the truck from the ground up. Over the winter of 2018 the Manning Racing Team offered up their shop and helped build our first ever V8 powered race vehicle.

The 2019 season got off to a rocky start as the team battled some new build gremlins. With a full season of racing on tap after the team declared to run for Rookie of the Year at Delaware Speedway, it was time to get serious. With practice and the development of a full crew, the mid-season saw the team score its first ever checkered flag, a heat race win with the full field of trucks on track. That same night the team would earn a career best runner-up finish in the feature.

On August 9th, 2019 the JRD Motorsports team made its first ever trip to feature race victory lane after dominating the 18-vehicle feature (combined Trucks and V8 Stock Series). The team would become the first that season to lead the most laps in a combined series feature and would score the Truck Series win on a night where sponsors, fans, friends, and family were invited to watch. The 70+ that came to support roared as the team staged for its first ever victory lane picture.

The team would continue 2019 with great success and ended the inaugural truck season on a high note winning the Truck Series portion of the weekend on the Great Canadian Race Weekend, the most prestigious weekend at the track!

The 2020 season sees the team return to the Truck Series with a brand-new look including the new 2019 Chevy Silverado body and many other off-season updates. The 2020 schedule will see the team branch out and run additional races at Grand Bend Speedway in addition to Delaware Speedway.

The 2020 season saw the team part ways with its truck after completely rebuilding it once again. While the plan was to run for a Truck Series championship, the worldwide pandemic changed the team’s direction and a new super stock was purchased. A three-race mini-series was announced, and we would head on tour. The team’s first ever Super Stock race took place at Sauble Speedway on August 22nd where we would race towards the top 10 in a stacked field of 25 of the best cars in the province before suffering an electrical failure. Race two would take place at Sunset Speedway where we would earn a 16th place finish, once again in a stacked field of heavy hitters. The final race of 2020 took place at Jukasa Motor Speedway, the track known as Canada’s Crown Jewel. We would qualify 6th fastest of the 30 cars in attendance and race to the front earning a 2nd place finish in just our third Super Stock start and first at Jukasa.
